Matt joined Herren Associates in 2012 while working to finish up his PhD in Operations Research from the University at Buffalo. He specializes in providing expertise to multiple customers and internal delivery teams to guide analyses, and develop and improve methods of data analysis and visualization to maximize impact. Matt is a Certified Cost Estimating/Analyst (CCEA) and currently leads our cost engineering efforts at NAVSEA 05C, overseeing a team of analysts providing support to the combat and weapons systems division. Before coming to Herren and while working on his degree, Matt was a research assistant and developed detailed a simulation environment to study Intelligent Transportation Systems and their potential impacts in emergency response, as well as methods of computing UAV flight times for thousands of potential routes through multiple waypoints in near-real time. He has published three articles related to this work, and had one of these articles included into a recently published book on unmanned systems.
Outside of Herren, Matt enjoys spending his time with wife and two young children, continuing to explore the DC area. He looks forward to watching them grow, participating in after school activities, and planning out family trips and vacations to the beach, Sesame Place and other amusement parks, zoos and aquariums.
