For more than 25 years, Komen for the Cure has played a critical role in every major advance in the fight against breast cancer, transforming how the world talks about and treats this disease, and helping to turn millions of breast cancer patients into breast cancer survivors. To honor her mother, who is battling cancer right now, Ann wanted to make a difference. She set out to raise $1500 for the race. After 24 hours of announcing that she was running the marathon, Ann was just $85 shy of her goal. In one week, she raised $5250, and it didn't stop. Ann Lowe, with the help of her friends and family, and her dedication to race for the Cure, went on to raise $11, 455.
